Bob Ross was an American artist who hosted the public access TV show "The Joy of Painting" from 1983 to 1994. On this show he would create paintings in real time while explaining his techniques to the viewers. His paintings were made using oil based paint on a pre-stretched canvas, and the subjects of his paintings were usually fictional landscapes. I find Bob's work to be very calming and motivational, as he's able to create works of art in a matter of minutes while maintaining a laid back attitude. Bob's show communicated to me the merits of art as a hobby, and is always a good program to revisit whenever I want to learn new painting techniques.
